natural hair removal
There are natural ways to wax without shaving or waxing. They will help contribute to a better environment and will definitely help your skin
As women, we have a complicated relationship with body hair.
Since our teens, a flood of ads for Venus razors and Cosmo magazines have been telling us that the only way to be desirable is to be a sleek, hairless baby.
We carry this with us into adulthood, spending endless hours shaving, waxing, and laser removal.
This costs us a lot of money and it hurts too.
Ideally, I had chosen not to participate in some barbaric ritual in which a lady I just met uses hot wax to pull my hair out of my hoo-ha.
And, as a feminist, I firmly believe that there is nothing wrong with body hair.
I like to be smooth and slippery like a dolphin, but I’m not a big fan of chemicals or spending money on painful procedures.
I’m also super lazy and often love to wear pants to the salon or even shave my legs at home.
So where does this leave me when it comes to hair removal?
The answer lies in natural hair removal methods!
Here are 3 of my favorite natural hair removal methods that really work.
Turmeric hair removal
Turmeric, like Taylor Swift, has a great reputation.
And while both the singer’s rise and the kitchen staple are fine, spicy turmeric’s claim to fame doesn’t involve Kanye West.
Turmeric has been climbing the ranks of natural beauty for years.
This yellow spice is full of benefits for the skin, hair, and interior.
But did you know that it can even be used as a natural hair removal method?
Turmeric for hair removal is extremely popular with Indian women and has been used for centuries.
When turmeric is applied to the skin, it acts as a soft glue that makes the hair stick together.
When you rub in the spice, it takes the hair with it, usually by pulling it out from the roots.
If you repeat this exercise once a week, the process eventually slows hair growth, causing hair to grow back finer over time.
While there are a host of turmeric recipes for hair removal, one of the easiest is a simple turmeric paste.
Combine one teaspoon of milk with three teaspoons of turmeric, mixing to create a thick paste.
Spread the paste evenly over the desired area and leave for 20 minutes or until dry.
With a clean cloth, remove the paste in gentle circular motions.
Since the early 2000s, Baby Bash has made us wonder how you can fly that much.
Turns out, he’s been singing the answer the entire time!
Sugar wax, that is.
Populated in North Africa, the Mediterranean, and Middle Eastern countries, sugar is a super sweet natural hair removal method.
How is sugar hair removal better than traditional hair removal?
Well, I subscribe to the theory that natural is always best, plus the cost of FA sugar compared to salon waxing.
However, the main reason sugar is supreme is that instead of sticking to the skin like traditional wax, the sugar sticks directly to the hair and pulls it out by the roots.
This means less pain, less skin irritation, and less need for waxing.
Before you start slathering on sugary goodness, you should grow your hair out to about 1/4, so the wax has something to stick to.
Mix one cup of granulated sugar with one and a half tablespoons of lemon and two tablespoons of water in a small saucepan.
Heat over low heat until mixture forms a firm ball.
Remove from heat and allow to cool to room temperature, or until you can handle it safely.
Spread the wax in the same direction of hair growth and cover it with a piece of material.
Let it sit for a few seconds before pulling the fabric up while keeping the skin taut.
Clean any remaining wax from your skin with warm water.
If you are looking for a natural RN hair removal remedy, papaya may not be for you.
Unlike some of the above methods, papaya paste will not instantly make your legs ready for a date night.
However, it is a great long-term solution.
The fruit contains an enzyme called papain that weakens the hair follicles and prevents them from growing back over time.
So say goodbye to hair forever.
Combine a tablespoon or two of crushed papaya pulp with 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder.
Leave on for 15 minutes before rinsing off with warm water.
Repeat 1-2 times a week to see results.
